STATCOM is a community outreach program with branches nationwide. STATCOM was started at Purdue University in 2001. Cornell has established a STATCOM branch to serve Ithaca. Students with the Department of Statistical Science at Cornell University are members of STATCOM. The program offers the expertise of statistics students, free of charge, to non-profit governmental and community organizations in the areas of data organization, analysis, and interpretation.
