Applying to the MPS Applied Statistics Program:
Review the program requirements and recommended academic background listed below. If you would like to apply for admission into the Cornell University Master of Professional Studies (MPS) Degree Program in Applied Statistics you must submit the following:

Cornell Graduate Application available online at: http://apply.gradschool.cornell.edu/.
Although you can request a paper copy of the application, Cornell is moving to all electronic applications and prefers you to use the online version, if possible. - A Statement of Purpose, which can also be submitted online with the application.
- Two academic letters of recommendation.
- Complete transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate level studies undertaken at all schools. These should be official and translated into English.
- A resume is optional but does assist the admissions committee with evaluating your background.
Note: GRE scores are NOT required for the Statistics M.P.S. degree. TOEFL score is required for international applicants.
Deadline: We accept applications at any time and do not have a deadline but we have a class size limit and once the available seats are filled we are unable to offer admission to any more students. You should be aware that we only admit students beginning in the Fall semester (August).

Recommended Academic Background:
The MPS is intended for students with a quantitatively-oriented Bachelor's degree in the agricultural, biological, computer, engineering, mathematical, physical or social sciences.
Minimum Mathematical Background
As a minimum mathematical background you should have at least:
two semesters of calculus and one of elementary (non-calculus based statistics
a course in matrix algebra
familiarity with standard computing tools (e.g., spreadsheets)
We welcome applications from students with this level of preparation. With the minimum background you may expect to take two years to complete the degree, taking prerequisites (e.g., additional calculus) in the first year.
Advanced Background
A student with the equivalent of an undergraduate degree in mathematical sciences, with at least three semesters of calculus and substantial preparation in linear algebra, applied statistics and computing may expect to finish the degree in one year.
